Interview of Founder of Armost, Zhang Haiqing

The best time to plant a tree was ten years ago, and the second-best time is now.

In 1970, China launched Dongfanghong No.1, the country’s first man-made satellite. In October, China conducted its first nuclear test at Luobupo.

At that time, there was no concept of environmental protection in China, and all the people’s enthusiasm was devoted to the construction of new China.

Armost founder Zhang Haiqing, born in this year, also began his life trajectory. His eyes glistened as he recalled his first foray into the electronics industry in his 30s. In the manufacturing industry, he accumulated a lot of the most basic business management knowledge and ideas, which laid a solid foundation for his subsequent entrepreneurship.

In 2009, Zhang Haiqing was almost out of doubt. He chose to change course in his life from traditional manufacturing industry to the resource recycling industry, and began to get involved in the field of equipment manufacturing, which ordinary people dare not tread.

From 2010 to 2012, Zhang Haiqing, the founder of Armost, has been exploring the high value utilization of WEEE treatment system, leading and designing many disassembly lines in Chinese WEEE filed.

After independent design and investigation in Europe and Japan, Mr. Zhang Haiqing realized that if an enterprise does not have original technology, it will never have core competitiveness in the field of resource regeneration.

Taking this as an opportunity, he germinated the idea of developing a sorting system and began to conduct a lot of theoretical research and accumulation. In 2012, he led the technical team to complete the design and production of plastic washing line that met European standards, and successfully put it into operation in a large WEEE enterprise in Beijing.

In 2013, Zhang Haiqing officially left WEEE enterprise after four years of work to start his own business.

On December 19, 2014, Dongguan Armost Recycling-Tech. Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as Armost ) was established, and its market positioning is the R&D, manufacturing, sales and service of waste plastic recycling and harmless treatment of industrial exhaust and related products. Zhang Haiqing started a new journey.

For him, the first half of his life in the electronics industry, is the accumulation of a valuable fortune. After founding of Armost, he has maintained good communication with customers.

They respectively with blonde technology, GS, CRRC, Changhong, KONKA, TCL and Jinpin Electric, and many other well-known enterprises closely interact, learn more about the effective demand of customers, and accordingly adjust and improve the product design, their products are directly or indirectly in the service of the customer, at the same time also received positive evaluation and recognition of the clients.

After the early r&d accumulation and the rapid development in two years after its establishment, Amost has become the enterprise with the most core technology and core competitiveness in the field of electronic waste (WEEE) and waste vehicle recycling.”Armost” has also become a very well-known brand in the field of plastic recycling.

Coming to 2019, China’s economic growth has shifted gears, transforming and upgrading, which is more incisive in the plastic recycling industry.

This is Zhang Haiqing’s tenth year in the plastic recycling industry. The best time to plant a tree was a decade ago, followed by the present, and 2019 is destined to be an unusual year for both Amost and Zhang Haiqing

November 6 -8, Suzhou, Jiangsu.

New Perspectives of Scrap Plastics (ID: spa-sms) interviewed Armost founder Zhang Haiqing in Suzhou, his business card printed with “General Manager”, no Founder, CEO and other names, which is unique in the 1970s calm.

Under the impact of the Internet wave, everyone in the C to attract attention, but his like this kind of modest calm is rare.

Zhang Haiqing with a wise vision insight into the whole plastic industry. This year’s plastic market, Zhang Haiqing believes there are two core points.

The first is the uncertainty caused by the trade war between China and the United States. Let’s say you’re the boss of a company, you want to point the way, but because the world economy is so uncertain, investment is bound to be limited. The result is that you become more cautious about your investments. Because you don’t know you should be in Southeast Asia? Or US, China, Japan or Europe? If you’re not sure, you’re afraid to expand.

Then there is the market for raw materials. New material production capacity is still expanding. The global demand for fossil fuels is slowing down. When the market turns to cleaner energy sources to replace gasoline and diesel fuels, the result will be further expansion of plastic production capacity, and the supply exceeds the demand will be transferred to the market, resulting in the current low price of new materials. It will also further depress prices and markets for recycled plastics.

“Over the past year, the whole plastics recycling industry has been in a process of reshuffling,” he said to New Perspectives of Scrap Plastics (ID: spa-sms). “In addition, the global plastic recycling industry is in a state of far less talent and knowledge intensive.”

He said the whole chain of plastic recycling is long and wide, but the knowledge density is far from enough. If compared with normal manufacturing industry, the manufacturing enterprise with forward production includes design department, process department or industrial engineering department, as well as production department, quality department, sales and after-sales service department, and financial and administrative and logistics support department. All these systems are combined to make a complete manufacturing enterprise.

From the perspective of equipment enterprises, small messy enterprises will also be gradually eliminated by the market, all enterprises tend to scale, because now for the mature market requirements are more and more standardized.

In 2015, Armost launched a one-stop Mixed plastic separation system for crushing, washing and separation of mixed waste plastics. Their products include APS pretreatment system, ASF sink -floating system, AIS impurity removal system, ARS silicone rubber separation system and AES electrostatic sorting system.

Among the whole waste plastic recovery and sorting system, Armost’s APS pretreatment system, AES electrostatic separation system and ARS silicone rubber separation system have unique advantages. In the capacity, impurity removal rate, plastic loss rate and product purity control, four performance indicators are significantly better than similar well-known enterprises, the system is the best and most efficient separation system known in the industry.

In addition, Armost’s ASF sink-floating separation system also has unique technical advantages, based on a deep understanding of the recycling industry and advanced without halogen design, so that their system more intelligent, reliable, while greatly reducing labor costs, but also more energy conservation and environmental friendly.

Every product and market has its life cycle.

Facing the future, Zhang Haiqing believes, “it is impossible to stop recycling and recycling activities unless human consumption stops; Consumption and recycling goes hand in hand. You have consumption, you have recycling.”

There are many opportunities in the plastics recycling industry, and he is optimistic about its future.

He analyzed, so many cities in our country, if we don’t deal with our garbage, if we don’t deal with our waste plastic, what is the state of it? Do you want to burn all of them, so that the first is to produce pollution emissions, and the second is to lose value.

Second, can you leave your garbage alone? Garbage siege runs counter to the current urban development concept, and now we have to work toward the direction of “no waste city”, which requires that all waste or resources generated by consumption throughout the country must be recycled, which is the ultimate solution of no waste city.

As for the theme of the 22nd China International Conference on Plastic Recycling — Thinking about China’s entry into the plastic recycling era, Zhang Haiqing said it is hard to tell whether this year or the next five years belong to the plastic era or enter the plastic recycling era.

Because you’re going to go into the plastic circular, what’s your definition? If you don’t define this concept strictly, we can’t talk about it and say what era does it belong to?

We can now put aside the question of which era it belongs to, he says: “as far as I know, in the petrochemical industry chain, the capacity to convert to plastics is increasing, which means new plastics are constantly being produced. But our total market demand is limited, the result is that the market for recycled materials is crowded out by new materials.

However, from the perspective of the policies of developed countries in Europe, US and China, and from the perspective of the overall outline of sustainable development of the United Nations, the overall goal is to encourage the whole society to use recycled plastics, so as to reduce the total carbon emission. So the proportion of recycled plastic is going to get higher and higher. In this sense, we have entered the era of plastic recycling.

Finally, in response to our reporter’s concern about the company’s product design and innovation, Zhang Haiqing said that Armost has a boundary: “We never copy from others. Our products are all self-developed and have their own patents.”

“You never can be a designing master from copy,” he insisted.

After thinking for a moment, he explained to New Perspectives of Scrap Plastics (ID: spa-sms): “your own patent must have its own unique design concept in it.” He further explained, “our company’s technology and solutions are at the top level of the industry, because you can only find the most appropriate, cheapest and most effective solution based on objective investigation and deep thinking and research, so as to bring value to customers.”

It can be said that Armost stand on the road of independent research and development, they put the whole plastic recycling industry trends and pain points are thoroughly understood.

Zhang Haiqing introduced, Armost has a feature, “so far we have no salesman.”

“It’s not that we don’t want some salesmen,” he explained. ”it’s because our business must be technology selling. Because if you give some people a solution, but due to without professional knowledge and then you hide a  potential risk for them, that’s a big problem, the reputation of our company will be damaged, and the customers will be damaged, and we will have a deep sense of guilt, which is not our pursuit…”

Toward the end of the interview, he said with sincerity: “if you just sell machines to make some money, just make your own money, regardless of the death of others, we don’t advocate it.”

“I think a person’s life is limited, you only have one life, how much money to earn is not the most core appeal, the most core is that you only achieve others, then you will be sense of accomplishment.

As a Chinese Old say, “Near gold is like gold, near jade is like jade.” To put it simply, what kind of environment a person lives in and what kind of industry he is engaged in will make him what kind of person he is.

The interview and communication process with general manager Zhang Haiqing, such as entering the room of orchids without smelling its fragrance for a long time, let us see a blood, flesh, responsibility, and a sense of responsibility Armost founder.

New Perspectives of Scrap Plastics (ID: spa-sms) believes that from the current overall situation, the plastic recycling market in 2020 will be better than that in 2019. If 2019 is the night, then 2020 is the dawn. If we compare 2019 to a cold winter, 2020 is sure to be a warm year.

Blessing Armost Recycling-Tech, blessing Zhang Haiqing, let us walk out of the dark, to meet the light, to meet the plastic recycling era.
